Understanding ALTA/NSPS Land Surveys
The course is a 3-part series that will introduce learners to the fundamentals of surveying and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their job more efficiently to reduce errors and the likelihood of adverse action against a title. Part 1 introduces learners to the 2021 minimum standard detail requirements. Part 2 builds upon the foundational teachings of Part 1 and introduces learners to Table A, which covers the optional survey responsibilities and specifications. Part 3 addresses advanced survey matters and teaches students the issues of properly formatting a legal description.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain an understanding of when the ALTA/NSPS Survey Standard should be used.
- Review the 19 specific items in Table A.
- Review optional survey responsibilities and specifications.
- Focus on the specific requirements of the ALTA/NSPS Standards: 2021 Minimum Standard Detail Requirements to remain in compliance.
- Understand legal description issues and when new legal descriptions are required.
- Recognize the difference between a title description and legal description.
- Identify the importance and examples of Survey Exceptions
